rickbid - online guitar & music auctions

The story behind the site
Background:
It was probably a year ago the idea of making a site like rickbid first appeared. We have a fantastic Rickenbacker community on the web. Why not add a site that is very seriously focused on Rickenbacker guitar and bass auctions? Since my devotion to Rickenbacker guitars and basses is massive, I decided to start this site for Rickenbacker instruments myself. My intention was to create a place where all Rickenbacker enthusiasts could buy or sell their instruments, feeling secure that this is managed by someone who really cares and knows a lot about these instruments.
This is what I did:
I spent nearly 6 months looking for a good auction site software. There are many types and I guess I tried them all. Finally I decided to use the PHP auction scripts. The specifications for running this script are all met on the servers where my site is hosted. It's a Linux system running an Apache web server and an SQL server running the database where all the site's information is stored. This may sound complicated but since I handle all the administration myself, I put in my absolutely best efforts to make this site run flawlessly. Now the site is up and running and I am very happy to invite all Rickenbacker enthusiasts to start using it.
Why is this site better?
rickbid - online guitar auctions is a very small site. Maybe not fancy and flashy but very serious. Highest quality on everything is what I go for. I can give a very personal service to all members. It's only me you have to deal with. I also supervise all auctions to make sure that there are no attempts of fraud or other bad behavior. Any auction that violates the terms and conditions will be removed immediately! There are no costs for membership or setting up an auction. The only time you pay anything is if your auction is successful! The final value fee is based on an average final value fee from various other auction sites.
Security
Internet can be a scary place. To give the best protection for the members this site is using SSL (secure socket layer) to assure privacy. It adds the best privacy and security there is available. The site uses one type of cookie for the active sessions. When you shut down the browser, the cookie is gone. This cookie is important for the PHP script to work better. No information or files are stored on your own hard drive. With so much criminal activity on the web a small site with a knowledgable management is to prefer. Big is not always better.
