Here's the pics:

Plays like a dream, sounds fantastic.

A hint of birdseye spatters the back while the front is fairly unremarkable.

Various Guitar Models / Gibson Has Discontinued The Les Paul Deluxe
« on: January 13, 2008, 04:26:07 PM »
The only dealer (I use that term loosely) was Musicians Friend.  They are now showing the Deluxe as discontinued, but it doesn't appear on the "Discontinued Models" page at Gibson's site.

Anyone have any info on this?

Here are the links:

I've always loved the Deluxe.  Too bad it's gone, but maybe someday it will return again (as it's done in the past).

I'll say it.  Mine is the 330/6.  I've had 330/6's, 360/6's, 660/6's, and 660/12's.  I love the feel of the 330/6.

I only hope the incoming 620/12 can be mentioned in the same sentence.  Time will tell.

IMO / Re: Guitar Amps

I voted for "Other".  Through the years I have had several each Marshalls, Fenders, and a single Vox.

In early 2002 I found the one amp I'll never part with, a Budda SuperDrive II 18 1x12 combo.  It covers Marshall (think mini plexi), and has very nice shimmery Vox sounds as well.  A bit expensive, but built like a tank, and covers everything I need to do....except it has no reverb.

Late in 2007 I went looking for a small 5 watt amp.  It had to be all tube (tube rectified as well).  I wound up with a Swart ST6V6SE.  The amp is amazing.  It does Fender better than Fender does Fender.  Again, a bit expensive (especially for a 5 watt amp), built like a tank.....except it has no reverb.

The issue of no reverb has been taken care of with a Gomez G-Spring reverb unit.  It is a boutique clone of the early Fender reverb heads, but build quality is second to none.  It has the most useful, adjustable reverb I have ever used...and I have played several of the original Fender units.  A bit pricey, but well worth the cost if you are looking for vintage reverb.

Here are the links to the amps/reverb:

You can dig around in the above links for soundclips.

Rickenbacker Guitar Models / Just Ordered A New 620/12FG
« on: January 13, 2008, 02:53:39 PM »
Back in the late 1990's I had two 660/12's..a MG (which was the most highly flamed guitar anyone had ever seen), and a FG.  Foolishly I sold both of them.

The time has come again to add another electric 12 to the arsenal.  Last Thursday I ordered a new 620/12 FG.  It is scheduled to arrive next Wednesday.  I was lucky on two counts...I actually found a dealer that had one...and the price (after the huge increases) was about $400.00 less than everyone else that didn't have one.

I'll update with pictures when the guitar scheduled for Friday, January 18, 2008.
