Rickenbacker Guitar Models / Calling all Frying Pans
« on: August 26, 2007, 02:51:43 PM »
Hello All,
As part of my research into the early Electro String Company, I am trying to document the changes in the aluminium-bodied Rickenbacker (spelled “Rickenbacker” on most instruments) Frying Pan. I hope to compile a catalogue of instruments and serial numbers in order to better understand the development of this instrument, the first commercially successful electric guitar. I am interested in all frying pans, even the later ones made during the 1950s. Soundcheck / Re: Playing lead guitar on a Model 330

Hey Björn,
That's some very tasty playing! I think that the idea of the 330 (or any Rick for that matter) not being a "lead guitar" is more a matter of perception/reputation than of any tonal or playing characteristics of the instrument. I do find it ironic though that while Rick guitars may not have had the reputation of being a “lead” instrument- the basses do!
