Parts and Accessories / Restoring 1967 Rickenbacker 4001 bass
« Last post by smkoch on May 10, 2009, 02:52:19 PM »
I'm restoring a 1967 fireglo Rickenbacker 1999 (4001S) bass. I have located all the parts inclusive the reissue toaster neck pick-up. Only thing missing now is the horseshoe bridge pickup and chrome surrounding for this. A friend of mine gave me the email address for a guy who should be able to do a new horseshoe, but no reactions to my emails. Same thing with Rickenbacker. They don't answer my mails. Now I'm tempted to find a later higain bridge pickup with the smaller chrome surrounding and put this on just to get the bass up and working (I'm a touring musician and need the bass soon, since I'm currently lending a 4001C63 from a friend). Anyone who can help ? Anyone who has a horseshoe pick-up or higain pickup, a large 60s chromesurrounding or later smaller surrounding - original or reissue/remake lying around - doesn't matter as long as it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Also the reissue toaster pickup I've received has 6 poles like a guitar pickup. I've been told that the original toaster bass pickups was identical to guitar pickups, but is this also the case with the reissues or have I received a guitar pickup

Great work Paul,
I hope many people will be attracted to owning such a beautiful Baby.
This seems to be kind of modern solution for the old light show guitars that are history today ( and very $$$..).
Prices for original complete guitars are in the 20K - 40K range.
I am thinking of buying one of yours Paul but the bad thing is that I don't perform in public and the light show will pass unseen.
Too bad!!!  8)

Rickenbacker Guitar Models / Re: Rickenbacker 320 what is it worth?

A ;D re you selling to a dealer or to a private party?
If it's a dealer you may count 30% less but you get the money.Consignment is generally 20%.
The price also depends where the guitar is located..In Europe or USA.

I own a black 320 from 81 with Klusons tuners and I have seen the price on eBay from $1.500 to 2.000 us dollars.
Mine has the newer High gain PU's not the toaster reissue type used later.

If you are in Europe consider that the prices in Euros are generally 35-40% higher at least ( custom duties and transport, taxes)
1 Euro = 1.30 - 140 us dollar.
So 2.000 euros = 2.700 - 2.800 American dollars ::)
Good luck

I have been told that there is a problem with the login function in this Forum. This was not known to me until a few hours ago. For the moment I have no further details about what's exactly happening. I have not encountered any difficulties with this myself so I hope it is a temporaily fault that will disappear.
