My Rickenbacker 4001
« on: March 26, 2007, 12:37:12 AM »
Once upon a time I had this '74 4001 and I don't think I have ever played a better bass. I have tried a number of basses but this one is outstanding! All that is left is this very poor recording I made just to let my 6 & 12-string guitars and the bass play together. I will look for a photo of this trio and post it later.

Will a 4001C64 fall under this thread? Or should it have its own?  ;D

A beautiful guitar... it will someday have a hipshot... or not... why not?

Ah, That's a nice one David, can't wait to see it with the Hipshot. Incidentally; Bjorn, here's a few shots of my 74' fireglo.

Thanks for the cool site.

Bassbob, I will post pics as soon as I get the Hipshot. After what I've been reading about it, here's hoping my sound rocks!

Or is it Bassb**b? Just kidding (and running for cover)  ;D

Bjorn: That recording of Silly Love Songs is very well played. The tone of the 4001 is really unequaled by other basses. I see another 4001 in your future.  ;D

Thank you for your comment on my old recording, I have also seen another 4001 in my dreams but as it is now, it's far away. However, one day I'll get me a great Rickenbacker bass and I will hold on to it no matter what happens.

The early 1970s Rickenbacker 4001 models are becoming more collectible every day and based on the tone in your clip and your photo it is for a good reason, Bjorn.

In a fair number of cases there are still 60s features on a number of basses manufactured in 1970 and 1970. The fireglo finish is also stunning on these models.
